At every defining moment you’re faced with fear. In those moments who you thought you were and what you thought you wanted can get blurry. In this tense space you can either follow your heart or choose fear. That’s what fuels the music Newella creates, the desire to chase after what the heart wants depsite the fear.
Newella is based in Nashville, TN, born and raised in a small town near Pittsburgh, PA. She’s been writing, performing, producing, and collaborating with others for many years. With a rich history in classical vocal training & a love for the intricacy in jazz music, she brings together her eclectic background in music to create pop music that is full of life & energy.
After the tragic passing of her father, Newella found herself in deep grief. The kind that feels like a stack of bricks on top of your chest. It’s heavy and it can immobilize you. After months of feeling lost & just surviving, she began writing about her grief journey and began finding joy again amidst the heartache.
The passion to create music that is full of energy and depth has always been there for Newella, but now, the why has become so much clearer.
After releasing her first holiday project “Christmas & Chill” in November 2021, Newella took a break from all performance to grieve & find some healing.
Though it’s been a wild and unexpected year, in this time Newella has been working on many exciting projects. She had the opportunity to co-write numerous songs, one of which was a country song that was Grammy-nominated & released under her legal name (Sarah Tilghman - Good Ole Days), she’s been hard at work getting ready to launch online products for her vocal coaching business (Magic Cord Artist Studio, LLC.) and preparing for the release of a full length album that navigates through her grief journey in 2023.

I wanted to create a song that captures who he is to me, and hopefully encourage others that love is so rewarding, even if you've been hurt in the past, love is always worth the risk.”
